The Collaborative process is inherently designed to preserve relationships and solve complex family law issues without going to court. It is a “team” approach, which is typically comprised of a financial neutral expert, an attorney for each party and a coach for each party, all of whom provide information and support throughout the process. However, the composition of the “team” is ultimately determined by the parties and their needs. For example, real estate experts, child specialists or business valuation experts can be added to the team. Participants in the Collaborative process not only settle their cases, but often learn effective communication and co parenting skills that assist them in their relationships going forward.
Ms. Setzer was Collaboratively trained in 2013 and she has been settling cases using the Collaborative method since that time.
