There is no “one size fits” all method to resolve family law issues. Setzer Family Law provides choices for our clients, by offering several different approaches to help settle their dispute.
Whether it be Mediation, Collaborative, Consultation or a combined approach, our firm has the experience and knowledge to assist you with divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, parentage, complex property division, premarital agreements or your other family law issue. After a case is concluded, our clients have a plan as to the next steps they need to take to put their settlement into effect. Should a case not be able to settle, we can refer you to litigation counsel, who can represent you in court.
Frann Setzer, CLS-F, MBA

Ms. Setzer practices exclusively in the area of family law, advising clients in complex custody, support and property matters related to dissolution, as well as post judgment proceedings, paternity actions and the drafting of premarital agreements. She served as Minor’s Counsel for seven years, appointed by the court to represent minor children within the family court system.
Besides having extensive practical experience as a family law attorney, Ms. Setzer is certified as a Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California, which means that she sat for a second bar exam solely on the subject of Family Law. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Mediation has been a part of her practice since 2012, when she completed her first 40 week training and she has been a Collaborative attorney since completing that training in 2013. Since then, she has attended numerous seminars to hone her skills in these Alternative Dispute Resolution processes has completed extensive training various complex child custody issues through her work as Minor’s Counsel.
Starting in mid-2023, Ms. Setzer’ no longer accepted litigation clients. Her practice focuses solely on settlement, whether it be through Mediation, using Collaborative techniques or Negotiation. After years of litigating and seeing the effect that litigation has had on families both emotionally and financially, Ms. Setzer has come to believe that it is a family law attorney’s obligation to try to preserve relationships and conserve the client’s assets. In her experience, Ms. Setzer finds that using mediation, negotiation and collaborative techniques often helps achieve settlement without the need to litigate.
Originally from New York City, Ms. Setzer graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton, received her MBA from New York University’s Stern Graduate School of Business and graduated from California Western School of Law.
Jessica Grynberg

Jessica Grynberg is Of Counsel at the Law Office of Frann Setzer. She has over a decade of
experience handling family law matters. Jessica is passionate, compassionate, and zealously
advocates on behalf of clients. She is an invaluable asset to the firm.
Jessica, with experience handling evidentiary hearings, trials, and complex family law matters, is a firm believer that mediation is, more often than not, the best path to resolution. Jessica has been a mediator since 2013 and has taken several mediation trainings, including a week-long Mediating Disputes training at Harvard (2013); a Family Law Mediation training at the Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law (2014) and a High Conflict Mediation training with Bill Eddy (2021).
Jessica co-authored the article titled “Private Caucusing” In Civil Pretrial Mediations, published at Mediate.com.
Jessica was born and raised in Mexico City and is a native Spanish speaker. Jessica and her family moved to San Diego in 1998, where she attended high school and, therefore, considers San Diego her hometown.
Jessica obtained her JD from Benjamin Cardozo School of Law in New York City with concentrations in Family Law, Alternate Dispute Resolution, and Litigation.
Lois Richards

Lois Richards joined The Law Office of Frann Setzer in October 2019, after gaining two decades of family law paralegal experience in Montana and in California.
Lois was born and raised in Montana and earned her ABA approved A.A.S.Degree in Paralegal Studies there in 1998. She worked for a well-respected law firm in Missoula, Montana for over 16 years.
In 2016, she followed her dream and moved with her family to sunny California. She loves San Diego and enjoys helping people during difficult times. When she is not working, Lois spends time outdoors with her family.
