Divorce

Divorce or dissolution of a marriage or domestic partnership is one of life’s most stressful situations.

Entering into a relationship is often easy, but legal termination of a marriage or domestic partnership can be quite complicated, especially where children are involved. The facts and circumstances of each divorce is unique and should be assessed and managed on a personal and individual basis.

Whether you are considering filing for divorce, have already filed for divorce or have been served with divorce paperwork, our firm will ask the right questions in order to assess your case and advise you accordingly- both on strategy and on the best approach to reaching settlement. Our Clients are educated as to the legal rights and obligations that apply to their specific situation. After listening to a client’s concerns and goals and obtaining some preliminary information, we provide options for a course of action that will provide the best chance of settlement. Perhaps Mediation or the Collaborative process is right for one situation. Sometimes negotiating between attorneys or helping the parties negotiate a settlement is the best approach and at times, doing nothing right now is the correct course of action. If a client is already in Mediation, perhaps he or she just needs a counseling attorney to advise him or her throughout the process or to review a settlement agreement. While our firm does not litigate, if litigation is necessary, we can refer you to several solid litigators to represent you in court.

Regardless of our clients’ circumstances, we are strong advocates to help them reach their goals on all aspects of the divorce and we work hard to make sure they obtain the best result with the least amount of emotional and financial cost.
