Frann Setzer, CLS-F/MBA
Ms. Setzer practices exclusively in the area of family law, advising clients in complex custody, child support, spousal support and property matters related to dissolution, as well as post judgment proceedings, paternity actions, domestic violence situations and the drafting or review of premarital agreements. She also serves as Minor’s Counsel, representing minor children within the family court system.
Besides having extensive practical experience, Ms. Setzer is certified as a Family Law Specialist by the State Bar of California, which means that she sat for a second bar exam solely on the subject of family law. She has also earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and has extensive experience in handling the the division of businesses in divorce.
Ms. Setzer has been a mediator since 2010 and has completed extensive training in Mediation, in addition to having hundreds of hours of practical experience. She has been certified as a Collaborative divorce professional since 2013 and has experience with high conflict custody cases and high conflict personalities. Since 2016, she began to serve as Minor's counsel, appointed by the court to represent children.
Ms. Setzer’s practice philosophy is that, while litigation is necessary at times, family law attorneys have an obligation to preserve relationships and conserve the client’s assets. In her experience, Ms. Setzer finds that using mediation, negotiation and collaborative techniques before resorting to litigation often helps achieve these goals.
Originally from New York City, Ms. Setzer graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton, received her MBA from New York University’s Stern Graduate School of Business and graduated from California Western School of Law. When she is not working Ms. Setzer spends time with family, enjoys hiking and travel.
